Who are they? (They ares saleswoman, Mai and Linda) 2. Where are they? ( at canteen) 3. What are they doing? (talking about food and drink.) - Ask students to look at picture a, b (Activity 1) (page 20) and answer the following questions: 4. What does saleswoman ask, Linda? (Would you like some noodles/milk?) 5. What does Linda answer? ( Yes, please. I love noodles/ Lemonade) - Elicit the sentence patterns: Would you like to some ______? ̶ Yes, please. / ̶ No, thanks. - Tell students that they are going to practise asking and answering questions about accident prevention. - Play the recording more than once, if necessary, ask students to listen and repeat the dialogue - Do choral and individual repetition, pointing to the characters speaking. - Play the recording again for students to listen and repeat. Activity 2: Controlled & guided practice Task 1: Controlled practice (Activity 2: Point and say.) *************************************************************************** ENGLISH LESSON PLAN : GRADE 4 Son Linh Primary & Secondary School School Year 2022 – 2023 *************************************************************************** - Use pictures to elicit: bread, rice, vegetable, lemonade - Point to the first picture and model the task with one student, using the expressions in the bubbles and the word under the picture. Teacher: Would you like some bread? Student: Yes, please - Ask students to say the phrases chorally and individually. Repeat the same procedure with the rest of the pictures. - Ask students to practice in pairs, using the prompts in the bubbles and the pictures. - Call on some pairs to role-play the dialogue in front of the class. Monitor the activity and offer help, if necessary. Task 2: Guided practice.( Activity 3: Let’s talk) -Tell Ps that they are going to revise what they have learnt in lesson 1 and 2. - Get them to work in pairs, ask and answer two questions. Remind them to answer with facts about themselves. What’s your favourite food/ drink? And Would you like some .? - Call a few pairs to act out their conversation. - Encourage Ps to observe and give comments in English. - Get Ps to practiceasking and answering about food and drink. Ask them to say the food and drink aloud. - Play the recording more than once, if necessary. Ask pupils to listen and number the pictures. Tell them that they should focus on the jobs of the people. - Get pupils to swap their answers before you check as a class. Monitor the activity and often help, if necessary. *Key: a. 3 b.1 c.2 d.4 Activity 2: Controlled & guided practice Task 1: Controlled practice (Activity 2: Look and write..) - Tell pupils that they are going to complete the menu. Then ask them to look at the pictures and write the words for the food and drink. - Set a time limit for pupils to do the task independently. Go around offering help, if necessary. - Check the answers as a class and call one or two pupils to read aloud the complete text. *Key: 1. Milk 2. lemonade 3. Water 4. Fish 4. Rice 5. bread Task 2: Let’s play. - Tell pupils that they are going to play the game food and drink - Write Food and Drink on two side of the board. Then write fish under Food and milk under Drink. - Call two groups to the front of the class. They should take turns to write the name of a food or drink on the board. The group that runs out ideas or puts a food or drink under the wrong category is out of the game. Then another group comes out and continues. The group which stays until the end of the game is the winner. - Have Ps to work in pairs to talk about favourite food and drink, using What’s your favourite food/drink? It’s . Pronounce the final letters f in beef and leaf, and the final letter clusters sh in fish and dish. 2.Listen and tick the letters showing the correct words filling the gapped sentences. Listen and repeat. - Tell pupils that they are going to practise saying the sound of the letters f and sh in the word beef, leaf, fish, dish respectively. - Put the letters f and shon the board. Play the recording and ask pupils to repeat a few times. - Put the words beef, leaf, fish, dish and four sentences on the board - Get some Ps to say the sentences in front of the class. Check as a class and correct the pronunciation, if necessary Activity2. Listen and tick. Let’s chant. - Tell pupils that they are going to say the chant Would you like some fish? follow the procedure in teaching the Unit components in introduction - Have them read the chant and check comprehension. - Play the recording line by line for Ps listen and repeat. - Play the recording all the way through for Ps listen and repeat. - Show Ss how to chant and do the action - Divide the class into four groups to chant. - Call two groups chant and do the action in front of the class. The rest of the class claps along the rhythm - Play the recording again - Underline the words contain sounds f and sh Activity 4: Wrap-up & Assignments - Ask students to answer the following questions: 1. What have you learnt from the lesson today? (Pronounce the final letters f in beef and leaf, and the final letter clusters sh in fish and dish.) 2. What’re the core values of the lesson? Activity 3.Project - Tell pupils that they are going to do interview their classmates about their favourite food and drink and then report to the class. - Give each pupil a card.
