Warm - up: (5’) - Give Ss some pictures - Have Ss answer the questions What was the matter with her/him? have a cold have a headache have a stomachache have a flu - Look at the pictures and answer the questions 2. Presentation: (7’) + Activity 1: - Let students observe the picture and ask them questions - This is Mr. Tan, the teacher and this is Lan. Look at balloon 1. Lan was not there, she was absent. What do you think Mr Tan is asking Lan? What was wrong with her? (look at balloon 2) + Activity 2: - Introduce some new words sick (n) a sick note (n) have a virus - Introduce the structure What was wrong with you? I had a headache - Observe the picture and answer the questions - Guess the meaning 3. Practice: (8’) + Activity 1: - Let them practice the dialogue in pairs - Call on some pairs to role play the dialogue in front of the class + Activity 2: - Have them answers the questions in the dialogue - Let them ask and answer the questions in pairs. - Call Ss to get feedback Key : Because she had a bad cold She had a headache Mr Tan told Lan to stay inside at recess The doctor said that Lan had a virus The doctor wrote Lan’s sick note + Activity 3: - Have Ss play a game: Lucky Number Answer these questions again - Practice the dialogue in pairs - Some pairs to role play the dialogue in front of the class - Answer the questions in the dialogue - Listen and try to find the answers - Work in group of four and complete the survey - Check the answers 4.
