A. OBJECTIVES: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:
1. Knowledge:
- do the exercises correctly applying what they have learnt in the unit.
- review vocabulary related to space travel and grammar:
2. Competence: Communication, Co- operation, Self – learning capacity, Creative capacity
3.Attributes : studious, responsible and honest.
B. TEACHING AIDS:
Textbook, pictures, projector,computer and loudspeaker.
C. PROCEDURES
I. Vocabulary:
1. Activity 1: Complete the sentences using the promts provided.
Have Ss work individually to fill the gaps and then compare their answers with a
prtaner. Challage them to complete the task without using the prompts.

2. Activity 2: Which verbs go with phrases?
Ask Ss to work individually to do the matching exercise. If time allows, ask them to
work in pairs to make sentences using the phrases.
Key: 1.,f: to launch a spacecraft 2, d:. to orbit Earth 3,e: to experience microgravity
4, a: to live aboard the ISS 5, c: to train to become an astronaut 6, b: to do
experiments
II. Grammar
1. Activity 3: Complete the tasks using the past perfect..
Have Ss first work individually and write down the actions in full sentences. Then ask
Ss to work in pairs and talk about these actions.
a. These are the things that Jack had done before his bierthday party last week.
Reprot them to your partner.

b. Look at the followinf training tasks that Mai had completed before she became
a professional astronaut. Report them to your partner.

2. Activity 4: Circle the best answers
- Have Ss work individually to complete the task and then compare their answers with
a partner. A cross means no relative pronoun is required

III. Communication:
1. Activity 5: Game: THE LONGEST SENTENCE IN TNE WORLD !
- Ask Ss to follow the instructions to play this game. If time allows, both alternatives
can be done to provide Ss with further practice on defining relaitve clauses.
2. Activity 6: Role- play. In groups of four, take turns to be two interviewers for 4
Teen radio station and two astronauts who have spent time on the ISS. The interview
should focus on daily life on the ISS.
- The role- play should be done in small groups first. While Ss role- play, go around
and weak areas and provide further practice.
IV. Project. A holiday out of this world !
Encourage Ss to design attractive posters by using graphics and impressive advertising
language. Alternatively, Ss can prepare a short slide show presentation ( 3- 4 slides) to talk
about their company’s tour. Ss may inclu videos and sound files in their presentstion if they
wish.
V. Homework.

UNIT 11: CHANGING ROLES IN SOCIETY
Lesson 1: GETTING STARTED
A. OBJECTIVES:
1. Knowledge: By the end of the lesson students will be able to:
- Use the lexical items related to the changing roles in society.
- Interact a conversation about the vision of the future.
- Use the vocabulary related to the changing roles in society.
2. Competences listening and reading, tick the table, tick the correct explanation,
answering the questions, discussing and finding the meaning of the sentences, discussing,
playing games
3. Attributes: independent working, pairwork, linguistic competence, cooperative
learning and communicative competence
B. TEACHING AIDS
1. Teacher: Textbooks, computer, projector, plan, loudspeaker.
2. Students: Textbooks.
C. PROCEDURE
*Warm up: Chatting.
- Ask Ss to list some groups of people and their roles in society. Ask Ss if they think
the roles of these people will change in the future. If yes, ask how they will change. Ask Ss
to give explanations for their opinions.
I.Pre- reading :
Activity 1: Pre-questions
- Ask Ss to look at the title of the conversation and the picture. Ask them some questions.
- Have Ss answer the questions as a class.
- Play the recording and have Ss follow along.
- Explain the words that Ss don’t understand.
- Ss work independently. Encourage them to do the exercise without looking back at the
conversation.
- After that, allow Ss to share answers.
- Check their answers as a class.
Key: 1. It’s for people to share their vision of the future.
2. Some students from Oak Tree School in Happy Valley.
3. He says that learning will also take place outside school.

Activity 2: Work in groups. These pictures represent some visions of the future.
Discuss what they may mean.
- Have Ss work in groups of four or five. Ask them to look at the pictures and guess what
future visions the pictures represent. Encourage them to come up with as many predictions
as possible. Then have them
present their ideas to the class.
Suggested answers:
1. Cars will be running on solar energy.
2. People will live in houses in the sky.
3. People will be able to talk with their pets.
4. Robots will be doing the housework.
5. Trains will be running as fast as 300km/h.
6. Land will become barren.
III .Post- reading :
GAME
Make two big groups. One group names a service. The other group gives their vision of that
service in the future. Take turns to do this. The group with the most predictions wins.
- Divide the class into two teams. One team names a service and the other team says what
they think the service will be like in the future. Try to give every student ago, not just the
most advanced ones in the class
For a less able class, allow both teams to come up with the services first. Write them on the
board and allow Ss about five minutes to prepare. When the time is over, the game starts.
The group with the most
predictions wins.

- Identify the rising or falling tones in agreement and disagreement sentences and say
the sentences correctly.
a. Vocabulary: vocabulary related to the changing roles in society.
b. Grammar: Review
c. Pronunciation: The rising or falling tones in agreement and disagreement
sentences.
2. Competence: Groupwork, independent working, pairwork, linguistic competence,
cooperative learning and communicative competence.
3. Attributes: Ss will be more responsible for and be more aware of protecting and
developing society
B. TEACHING AIDS
1. Teacher: Textbooks, computer, projector, plan.

C. PROCEDURE

- Let Ss work in pairs. Ask them to determine the form of the word which is missing from
each sentence first. Then ask them to read the whole sentence carefully and determine
the meaning of the missing word. After that, they choose the correct word. Allow Ss to
share their answers with other pairs. Check the answers as a class.

class.

REMEMBER! Box as they do the exercise. Then play the recording. Ss listen, check, and
say the sentences. Call on some Ss to say the sentences individually.
