OBJECTIVES By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to: 1.Askand answer questions about what the character in a story is like. 2.Ss will be happy, love their school and English. II. LANGUAGE CONTENTS 1. New words :roar, move, beautifully, loudly, quietly, slowly, quickly 2. Structure:A: What did the lions do when you were there? B: They roared loudly. III. SKILL 1. Speaking, listening 2. Reading and writing skills. IV. TEACHING AIDS 1. Teacher: Power point, text book, chalk, word cards. 2. Pupils: text book, pencil, ruler. V. PROCEDURES Time Activities Interaction Materials 5’ 10’ 8’ 7’ 5’ A. WARM UP Slap the board Lion, tiger, monkey, elephant, python, gorilla, crocodile, peacock, snake, panda B. NEW LESSON 1. Look, listen and repeat - Tell Ps that they are going to read a story about Nam and Phong . - Look at the 4 pictures and guess the content: Where are they? What are they talking about? - Listen for the 1st time: Listen and follow. -Listen for the 2nd time and some more if necessary: Ps repeat the lines in chorus twice. ¯ Model sentence: A: What did the lions do when you were there? B: They roared loudly. - Concept check: form, meaning, use.. 2. Point and say - Tell Ps that they are going to practice asking and answering questions about what animals did in the zoo. - T introduces the new words under the pictures: roar, move, beautifully, loudly, quietly, slowly, quickly Then remind Ps the simple past tense of these verbs: roar- roared, move- moved, eat- ate, walk- walked, sing- sang - Let Ps practice in pairs. T monitors and helps. - Call some pairs to perform in front of the class. T corrects their pronunciation if necessary 3.Let’s talk - Tell Ps that they are going to practise further by asking and answering questions about books/ stories they like reading. T- Ps model first. Then let them work in pairs. Call some pairs to act in front of the class. C. B. NEW LESSON 1. Look, listen and repeat - Have Ps turn their books to 58 - Tell the class that they are going to read a story about Linda and Peter in 4 pictures and elicit the questions: Who are they? Where are they? What are they talking about? - Listen for the 1st time: Ps point to the appropriate line in their books -Listen for the 2nd time and some more if necessary: Ps repeat the lines. - Let Ps practice the dialogues in chorus. ]Model sentences: A: What did you see at the zoo? B: I saw a baby of elephant. 2. Point and say - Have Ps look at page 58. T introduces some animals in the pictures: python, crocodile, peacock, gorilla - Let Ps practice in pairs asking and answering questions about animals in the zoo. - T- Ps model first. Then let Ps work in pairs. T monitors and helps. - Invite some pairs to speak to check their performance. 3.Let’s talk - Tell Ps that they are going to practice asking and answering questions about the animals in the zoo. T- Ps model first. Then let them work in pairs or in groups of four. Call some pairs to act in front of the class. T corrects their pronunciation if necessary. C. Listen and repeat Let Ps look at the book . - Show the words and sentences: - Play the recorder. Ps listen and practice the stress of the words in words and in sentences. Listen again and read in chorus twice. Get some Ps to perform in front of the class. Check and correct their pronunciation. - Let Ps find more two and three- syllable words with the stress on the first syllable. 2. Listen and underline the stressed words. Then say the sentence aloud -Tell sts that they are going to listen and underline the stressed words in each sentence. -Play the recording for sts to listen -Ask sts to listen again and do the task -Ask sts to give answers -Play the recording again for sts to listen and check -Give correct answers 1. They moved beautifully. 3.Let’s chant Where will you be this weekend? - Have Ps read the chant and check comprehension. - Play the recording a few times for Ps to do choral and individual repetition. Show them how to chant and do actions. - Divide the class into 4 groups/ in pairs. - Call some pairs to the front of the class to chant and actions. The rest of the class claps along to the rhythm C.
