Lesson (page 78) A.Objectives By the end of this lesson, students will be able to talk about which sports they are good at and what can be done in different sports. Language knowledge and skills Vocabulary: hand, arm, foot/feet, leg, head, body, goalie. Sentence patterns: You use your legs and feet./ You can run and kick the ball in soccer. Skills: Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking. 1.Competences Self-control and independent learning: talk about which sports they are good at and what can be done in different sports. Communication and collaboration: work in pairs or groups to talk about which sports they are good at and what can be done in different sports. Critical thinking and creativity: learn how to talk about which sports they are good at and what can be done in different sports. 2.Attributes Kindness: support their friends to complete the learning tasks or play the games. Diligence: focus on the lesson and work hard to complete all the tasks. Honesty: play fair. Accountability: appreciate kindness, diligence, and honesty. 3.Teaching aids and materials - Teacher’s aids: Tiếng Anh 3 i-Learn Smart Start Student’s Book and Teacher’s book, Class CDs, Flashcards, DCR & DHA on Eduhome, TV , PowerPoint slides. - Students’ aids: Tiếng Anh 3 i-Learn Smart Start Student’s Book, Workbook, Notebook. B.Procedures I.Warm up Option 1: Play the Aha game. - Cover the flashcard with a piece of paper or card. - Very slowly move the paper to reveal the picture. - Ask students to guess the picture on the flashcard. Have them say “Aha” and the vocabulary. II.Presentation. Answer the questions. - Use DCR on Eduhome to show the class the pictures in Task C. Read and fill in the blanks. - Ask them to look at the pictures and answer these questions. • What can you see in each picture? • Where are the people? - Correct the students’ answers and help them with pronunciation if necessary. Lead in the new lesson. III. Practice 1. Read and fill in the blanks. - Use DCR on Eduhome to show the students the text. - Have them read the text individually. - Read the text as a whole class. Check answers as a whole class. 2. Look and listen. (CD2 Track 68) - Have the students look at the script and pictures and ask these questions. Who are talking? (Tyler and Hannah) What are they talking about? (sports) Play the audio and have them look and listen. 3. Look and circle. (CD2 Track 69) - Have the students look at the sentences. - Play the audio (using DCR) and demonstrate the activity using the example. - Play the audio and have them listen and circle. Play the audio again and check answers as a whole class. 3. Practice with your friends. - Divide the class into two pairs. - Have the students practice saying the sentences. Have some pairs demonstrate the activity in front of the class. IV. Production Make their own stories. - Have the students work in pairs. - Ask them to look at the story from Task D - Part 2 – Listen and circle. as a sample. - Give the students enough time to make their stories using their own ideas. - Walk around the class and support them if necessary. - Invite some pairs to present their stories in front of the class. Help the students with feedback and correct them if any. V.Homework Assignment - Require the students to do exercises on page 55 in the Workbook. Ask them to prepare Parts E-G, P.E. Lesson (page 79) A. Objectives By the end of this lesson, students will be able to talk about their favorite sport confidently. Language knowledge and skills Vocabulary: hand, arm, foot/feet, leg, head, body, favorite, basketball, kick, catch, throw. Sentence patterns: My favorite sport is basketball./ I can catch and throw the ball in basketball. Skills: Reading, Writing, and Speaking. 1. Competences Self-control and independent learning: identify and talk about their favorite sport. Communication and collaboration: work in pairs or groups to talk about their favorite sport. Critical thinking and creativity: learn how to talk about their favorite sport. 2. Attributes Kindness: support their friends to complete the learning tasks or play the games. Warm up Play the Circle jump game. - Divide the class into two groups and make two lines to play the game. - Draw two large circles on the ground with chalk. - Place a flashcard in each circle. - Call out a word, and a student from each team has to run and stand inside the corresponding circle as quickly as possible. - Ask them to say the word when standing inside the circle. The first student getting the correct answer wins a point for their team. II. Presentation Rearrange the sentences. - Have the students work in groups of 4-5 students. - Ask them to close their Student’s Books. - Give them the sentences from the text about using the body parts in basketball and ask them to rearrange the sentences to make a meaningful paragraph. - Walk around the class to support them. - Invite each group to present their answer to the whole class. III. Practice 1. Read and circle the sport he is good at. - Use DCR on Eduhome to show the students the text. - Have the students read the text individually. - Read the text as a whole class. - Demonstrate the activity using the example. Write about your favorite sport. - Have the students read the text in Part E again. Ask them to fill in the blanks about their favorite sport. IV.Production Tell your friend about your favorite sport. - Divide the class into 6 groups. - Have the students read the sentences to their group. Afterwards, have some students read the sentences in front of the class. V. Homework Assignment Ask them to prepare Unit 5 – Review and Practice on page 80 in the Student’s Book. Communication and collaboration: work in pairs or groups to talk about what sports they can do and talk about what they are good at. Warm up Play the Go get it game. - Divide the class into two teams. - Place the flashcards around the class. - Say the word twice so that the students can hear. - Say “Go get it” and then the student from each team has to run quickly to find and grab the flashcard the teacher said and they have to repeat the word. The team with the most flashcards at the end wins. II.Presentation Answer the questions. - Use DCR on Eduhome to show the class Task A. Listen and draw lines. on page 80. - Ask them to ask these questions. • How do you spell “Jill/ Mai/ Tom/ Bill/ Nick”? • How does he/she feel? - Ask them to look at the pictures and guess the answers to the questions 2-5 before listening to the audio. Walk round the class and support them if needed. III. Practice 1.Listen and draw lines. (CD2 Track 70) - Have the students focus on the Listening task. Look at the letters. Write the words. - Demonstrate the activity using the example. - Write the unscramble letters on the board, then write the word “soccer” next to the letters, cross each letter once when they have been put in the correct order. - Have the students individually look at the unscramble letters. - Ask the students to write the words in the spaces provided. - Check the answers as a whole class using DCR. - Afterwards, have some students demonstrate spelling the words aloud in front of the class. Monitor the class and support if needed. IV. Production Ask and answer. - Let the class work in pairs to complete the task. - Have the students practice using the structures to ask and answer about what they are good at (What are you good at?) and what sports they can do (Can you play soccer?). - Show the flashcards to the class. - Require them to look at the flashcards and use the appropriate structures to ask their friends. Monitor the class and support them if necessary. V. Homework Assignment - Require the students to do the exercises on pages 56, 57 in the Workbook. - Have Ss do the exercises in TA3 i-Learn Smart Start Notebook, page 31. Ask them to prepare the next lesson on page 81 in the Student’s Book. If they have the word, they tick it. The student who ticks all 5 words they have chosen shouts “Bingo” and wins the game. Lead in the new lesson. II. Presentation Answer the questions. - Use DCR on Eduhome to show the class the pictures on page 81. - Point to each picture and ask them to ask these questions. • What sport is it? • Can you play volleyball? • What is he/she doing? Walk round the class and support them if needed. III. Practice Play Block buster. - Divide the class into groups of four with two pairs in each group. - Guide the students how to play the game. Lesson plan 3 Thai Phi Hung Son linh primary and secondary school 2022- 2023 - Have the pairs play rock, paper, scissors to see which pair goes first. - Let the winning pair choose a block, match the symbol to the useful language, and then ask and answer using the picture. - Have the pair mark that block as theirs if they use the useful language correctly. - Ask them to swap their roles. - The pair that creates a line of blocks from one side to the other first wins the game. Pair 1: From orange to orange Pair 2: From blue to blue IV. Production Ask and answer. - Let the class work in pairs to complete the task. - Have the students practice using the structures to ask and answer about what sports they can do (Can you play volleyball?), what they are good at (What are you good at?), and ask for permission (May I go out?). - Show the flashcards to the class. - Require them to look at the flashcards and use the appropriate structures to ask their friends.
