Son linh primary and secondary school 2022- 2023 Period 95: Planning date: 04/03/2023 UNIT 6 - CLOTHES Lesson 3 (page 90) A.Objectives By the end of this lesson, students will be able to ask and answer about their clothes confidently. 1. Language knowledge and skills Vocabulary: belt, scarf, sweater, pajamas, skiing. Sentence pattern: Is that your jacket?/ Yes, it is. Are those your pants?/ No, they aren’t. Skill: Speaking. 2.Competences Self-control and independent learning: identify and ask and answer about their clothes. Communication and collaboration: work in pairs or groups to ask and answer about their clothes. Critical thinking and creativity: learn how to ask and answer about their clothes. 3.Attributes Kindness: support their friends to complete the learning tasks or play the games. Diligence: focus on the lesson and work hard to complete all the tasks. Honesty: play fair. Accountability: appreciate kindness, diligence, and honesty. 4.Teaching aids and materials - Teacher’s aids: Tiếng Anh 3 i-Learn Smart Start Student’s Book and Teacher’s book, Class CDs, Flashcards, DCR & DHA on Eduhome, Projector/Interactive Whiteboard /TV (if any), PowerPoint slides. - Students’ aids: Tiếng Anh 3 i-Learn Smart Start Student’s Book, Workbook, Notebook. B.Procedures I.Warm up Play the Slap the board game. - Divide the class into two teams and have them form two lines. - Place the flashcards about the clothes on the board, showing the images. Call out a word and have the first student from each group race to slap the correct image on the board and say it correctly. The first student to slap the correct flashcard wins a point for their team. II.Presentation Present the sentence pattern. - Use DCR on Eduhome to show to the class the sentence structure in Part E, page 90 in their Student’s Book. - Give the students enough time to look at the target sentence structure and have them read it silently. Lead in the new lesson. III. Practice 1. Point, ask, and answer. - Divide the class into two pairs. - Demonstrate the activity using the speech bubbles. - Have the student A point and ask, have the student B answer. - Swap roles and repeat. Afterwards, have some pairs demonstrate the activity in front of the class. 2. Extra practice. - Divide the class into two teams. - Show a flashcard to the class and say “yes” or “no”. - Have Team A make a question and Team B answer. - Swap roles and repeat. e.g. (Teacher shows the flashcard “scarf”.) Teacher: “yes” Team A: “Is that your flashcard?” Team B: “Yes, it is.” (Teacher shows the flashcard “pajamas”.) Teacher: “no” Team A: “Are those your pajamas?” Team B: “No, they aren’t.” IV.Production 1.Play Draw it. - Use DCR on Eduhome to show the examples to the whole class. - Demonstrate the activity using an example. - Divide the class into two teams. - Have a student from each team stand at the board with a chalk/ marker and tell them something to draw. - Have the teams try to guess what the student from their team is drawing using the useful language from the lesson. - Give the first team to guess correctly one point. - Repeat with different students. The team that gets the most points wins. V.Homework Assignment - Require the students to practice the structures at home. Period 96: Planning date: 04/03/2023 UNIT 6 - SCHOOL Culture Lesson (page 91) A.Objectives By the end of this lesson, students will be able to talk about their school uniform. Language knowledge and skills Vocabulary: uniform, polo shirt, tie, sneakers. Sentence patterns: What do you wear at school?/ I wear a blue tie. Do you like your uniform?/ Yes, I do./ No, I don’t. Skills: Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking. 1.Competences Self-control and independent learning: identify and talk about their school uniform. Communication and collaboration: work in pairs or groups to talk about their school uniform. Critical thinking and creativity: learn how to ask and answer about their school uniform. 2.Attributes Kindness: support their friends to complete the learning tasks or play the games. Diligence: focus on the lesson and work hard to complete all the tasks. Honesty: play fair. Warm up Play the Go get it game. - Divide the class into two teams. - Place the flashcards around the class. - Say the word twice so that the students can hear. - Say “Go get it” and then the student from each team has to run quickly to find and grab the flashcard the teacher said and they have to repeat the word. - The team with the most flashcards at the end wins. Lead in the new lesson. II.Presentation 1. Listen and point. Repeat. (CD3 Track 19) - Arrange the flashcards (uniform, polo shirt, tie, sneakers) on the board. Listen and point. Repeat. (CD3 Track 19) - Arrange the flashcards (uniform, polo shirt, tie, sneakers) on the board. - Ask the students to listen and pay their attention. - Use DCR on Eduhome to play the audio and point to each flashcard. - Then play the audio again and have them point to the pictures in their Student’s Books. - Play the audio and require them to listen and repeat. - Help them with their pronunciation if necessary. - Have the class work in pairs. One student randomly points to the pictures in their book, and the other one says the words. Then have them swap roles and continue this activity. Walk round the class and support them if needed. III.Practice 1. Listen and practice. (CD3 Track 20) - Use DCR on Eduhome to show the useful language and have the students look and read the useful language silently. - Explain that we use “What do you wear at school? to ask about someone’s school uniform. We use “Do you like ?” to ask whether someone likes or dislikes something. - Play the audio and have them listen to the useful language. - Ask them to work in pairs and practice the useful language. - Require them to use the vocabulary from Part A. Go around the class and support them if necessary. 2. Look and write. Practice. - Demonstrate the activity using the example. - Have the students look and write their answers in their Student’s Books. - Divide the class into pairs and have them check each other’s work. - Use DCR on Eduhome to check the answers as a whole class. - Have some pairs practice saying the sentences. Monitor the class and support if needed. IV.Production Ask and answer. - Divide the class into two teams to complete the task. - Have Team A ask Team B the question: “What do you wear at school?”, and show the flashcard about the school uniform for Team B to answer the question. Teacher shows the flashcard “tie”. Team A: “What do you wear at school?” Team B: “I wear a tie” - Ask them to take turns asking and answering the questions. Support them if necessary. Period 97: Planning date: 04/03/2023 UNIT 6 – CLOTHES Culture Lesson (page 92) A.Objectives By the end of this lesson, students will be able to talk about their school clothes in Australia. Language knowledge and skills Vocabulary: uniform, polo shirt, tie, sneakers, shorts, skirt. Sentence patterns: What do you wear at school?/ I wear a blue tie. Do you like your uniform?/ Yes, I do./ No, I don’t. Skills: Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking. 1.Competences Self-control and independent learning: identify and talk about their school uniform. Communication and collaboration: work in pairs or groups to talk about their school uniform. Have them say “Aha” and the vocabulary. II.Presentation Answer the questions. - Use DCR on Eduhome to show the class the pictures in Task C. 1. Read and circle. and 2. Circle David’s uniform. - Ask them to look at the pictures and answer these questions. • Where is the girl? • How does she feel? • What clothes can you see in each picture? - Correct the students’ answers and help them with pronunciation if necessary. Lead in the new lesson. III. Practice 1. Read and circle. - Use DCR on Eduhome to show the students the text. - Have them read the text individually. - Read the text as a whole class. - Help them correct their pronunciation. - Demonstrate the activity using the example. - Have them read and circle. Check answers as a whole class. 2. Circle David’s uniform. - Use DCR on Eduhome to show the students the pictures. - Demonstrate the activity using the example. - Have them read and circle. Check answers as a whole class. 3. Look and listen. (CD3 Track 21) - Have the students look at the script and pictures and ask these questions. Who are talking? (Tom and Mia) What are they talking about? (their uniforms) Play the audio and have them look and listen. 4. Look and write. (CD3 Track 22) - Have the students look at the sentences. - Play the audio and demonstrate the activity using the example. - Play the audio and have them listen and write. Practice with your friends. - Divide the class into two pairs. - Have students practice saying the sentences. Have some pairs demonstrate the activity in front of the class. IV.Production Make their own stories. - Have the students work in pairs. - Ask them to choose the story from Part 2 – Listen and write as a sample. - Give the students enough time to make their stories using their own ideas. - Walk around the class and support them if necessary. - Invite some pairs to present their stories in front of the class. Help the students with feedback and correct them if any. V. Homework Assignment - Require the students to do exercises on page 65 in the Workbook. - Have them copy the structures in their Tiếng Anh 3 i-Learn Smart Start Notebook, page 35. Ask them to prepare Parts E-G, Culture Lesson on page 93 in the Student’s Book. The first student getting the correct answer wins a point for their team. II.Presentation + Rearrange the sentences. - Have the students work in groups of 4-5 students. - Ask them to close their Student’s Books. - Give them the sentences from the text (page 93) about the clothes in Vietnam and ask them to rearrange the sentences to make a meaningful paragraph. - Walk around the class to support them. - Invite each group to present their answer to the whole class. - Correct the students’ mistakes if necessary. - Use DCR on Eduhome to show the class the text and check their answers. Lead in the new lesson. III.Practice 1.Read and circle True or False. - Use DCR on Eduhome to show the students the text. Production 1. Tell your friend about your school uniform. - Divide the class into four groups. - Have the students read the sentences to their group. Afterwards, have some students read the sentences in front of the class. V.Homework Assignment Ask them to prepare Unit 6 – Review and Practice on page 94 in the Student’s Book.
