Language knowledge and skills Vocabulary: numbers 11-20, addition, subtraction. Sentence patterns: How many marbles are in my bag?/ Eleven plus four is fifteen. Skills: Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking 1.Competences Self-control and independent learning: identify and do simple math with real objects. Communication and collaboration: work in pairs or groups to do simple math with real objects. Critical thinking and creativity: learn how to do simple math with real objects. 2.Attributes Kindness: support their friends to complete the learning tasks or play the games. Diligence: focus on the lesson and work hard to complete all the tasks. Honesty: play fair. Accountability: appreciate kindness, diligence, and honesty. 3.Teaching aids and materials - Teacher’s aids: Tiếng Anh 3 i-Learn Smart Start Student’s Book and Teacher’s book, Class CDs, Flashcards, DCR & DHA on Eduhome, TV, PowerPoint slides. - Students’ aids: Tiếng Anh 3 i-Learn Smart Start Student’s Book, Workbook, Notebook. B.Procedures I.Warm up Play the Slap the board game. - Divide the class into two teams and have them form two lines. - Place the flashcards about the numbers 1-20 on the board, showing the images. Call out a word and have the first student from each group race to slap the correct image on the board and say it correctly. The first student to slap the correct flashcard wins a point for their team. II.Presentation Answer the questions. - Use DCR on Eduhome to show the class the pictures in Task C. Read and fill in the blanks. - Ask them to identify and say the numbers and choose their favorite numbers. - Correct the students’ answers and help them with pronunciation if necessary. Lead in the new lesson. III.Practice C. 1. Read and fill in the blanks. - Have the students read the sentences. - Have them read and fill in the blanks. Check the answers as a whole class using DCR. 2. Practice with your friends. - Divide the class into two pairs. - Have the students practice saying the sentences. Have some pairs demonstrate the activity in front of the class. D. Listen and write. (CD3 Track 44) - Have the students look at the sentences. - Play the audio and demonstrate the activity using the example. IV.Production Make their own stories. - Have the students work in pairs. - Ask them to read the conversation from Part 2 – Listen and write as a sample. Eg. Trang: I have ten pens in my bag. I put five pens in my bag. How many pens are in my bag? Hoa: Ten plus five is fifteen. You have fifteen pens in your bag. - Give the students enough time to make their stories using their own ideas. - Walk around the class and support them if necessary. - Invite some pairs to present their stories in front of the class. Help the students with feedback and correct them if any. V.Homework Assignment - Require the students to do exercises on page 75 in the Workbook. - Have them copy the structures in their Tiếng Anh 3 i-Learn Smart Start Notebook, page 40. Ask them to prepare Parts E-G, Math Lesson on page 107 in the Student’s Book. B.Procedures I.Warm up Play the Circle jump game. - Divide the class into two groups and make two lines to play the game. - Draw two large circles on the ground with chalk. - Place a flashcard in each circle. - Call out a word, and a student from each team has to run and stand inside the corresponding circle as quickly as possible. - Ask them to say the word when standing inside the circle. The first student getting the correct answer wins a point for their team. II.Presentation Rearrange the sentences. - Have the students work in groups of 4-5 students. - Ask them to close their Student’s Books. - Give them the sentences from the text about doing simple math and ask them to rearrange the sentences to make a meaningful paragraph. - Walk around the class to support them. - Invite each group to present their answer to the whole class. - Correct the students’ mistakes if necessary. - Use DCR on Eduhome to show the class the text and check their answers. Lead in the new lesson. III.Practice 1. Read and fill in the blanks. - Have the students read the sentences. Compare your friends’ math problem. - Divide the class into pairs. - Have the student A read their math problem to the student B. - Have the student B complete the problem. Afterwards, have some students read their math problems in front of the class. V. Language knowledge and skills Vocabulary: marble, block, card, doll, sofa, toy box. Sentence patterns: What can you see?/ How many cards?/ Put the doll in the toy box. Skills: Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking. 2.Competences Self-control and independent learning: review talking about what they can see, talking about how many things they have, and saying where to put different things. Communication and collaboration: work in pairs or groups to talk about what they can see, talk about how many things they have, and say where to put different things. Critical thinking and creativity: learn how to talk about what they can see, talk about how many things they have, and say where to put different things. 3.Attributes Kindness: support their friends to complete the learning tasks. The team with the most flashcards at the end wins. II.Presentation Answer the questions. - Use DCR on Eduhome to show the class Task A. Listen and () the box. on page 108. - Ask them to ask these questions. • What toy is it?/ What is it? • How many ? - Ask them to look at the pictures and guess the answers before listening to the audio. Walk round the class and support them if needed. III.Practice A. Listen and () the box. (CD3 Track 45) - Ask the students to look at the pictures. Put a () or a ( ). - Demonstrate the activity using the example. - Have the students look at the pictures, read each statement, and put a tick in the box if the statement is true, or a cross in the box if the statement is false. - Check the answers as a whole class using DCR. - Afterwards, have some students give a new true statement for each of the false statements. - Monitor the class and support if needed. IV.Production Ask and answer. - Let the class work in pairs to complete the task. - Have the students practice using the structures to ask and answer about what they can see (What can you see?), talk about how many things they have (How many ?), and say where to put different things (Put the doll in the toy box.). - Show the flashcards to the class. - Require them to look at the flashcards and use the appropriate structures to ask their friends. Monitor the class and support them if necessary. V.Homework Assignment - Require the students to do the exercises on pages 76, 77 in the Workbook. - Have the students do the exercises in Tiếng Anh 3 i-Learn Smart Start Notebook, page 41. Ask them to prepare the next lesson on page 109 in the Student’s Book. . II.Presentation Answer the questions. - Use DCR on Eduhome to show the class the pictures on page 109. - Point to each picture and ask them to ask these questions. • What toy is it?/ What is it? • Where is the bed? Walk round the class and support them if needed. III. Practice Play Connect three. - Divide the class into groups of four with two pairs in each group. - Guide the students how to play the game. - Have the pairs play rock, paper, scissors to see which pair goes first. The pair that gets three spaces in a horizontal, vertical or diagonal line wins the game. IV.Production Ask and answer. - Let the class work in pairs to complete the task. - Have the students practice using the structures to ask and answer about what they can see (What can you see?), how many things they have (How many cards do you have?), and say where to put different things (Put the robot in the toy box.). - Show the flashcards to the class. - Require them to look at the flashcards and use the appropriate structures to ask their friends.
