Let’s talk. A. Objectives I. Aim: By the end of the period, pupils will be able to ask and answer questions about where someone’s address. II. Language focus: Sentences patterns: - Where’s your address? It’s .. Vocabulay: address, lane, floor. III. Resources: student book ( page 6), flash cards, posters, recordings B. Procedures: I. Warm up: Ss sing the song “The big number songs” II. Pre - task Whole class: have ss turn their books to page 6. Focus their attention on the title of the unit and ask them to identify the characters in the pictures. Point to each picture and ask: who is this? Tell ss that they are going to listen to the dialogue among Mai, Nam and Trung talking where they live. Use a poster and three puppets to present the situation. Play the recording again all the way through for ss to listen. Play the recording again for ss to complete the words. 1. S1: Where are you from, Trung. S2: I’m from __________(Da Nang) 2. S1: Where is your _____ ?(address) S2: It’s_____ Tran Hung Dao street. (81) 3. I live in flat 18 on the _______ floor. (second) Ss listen to the tape again to check their answers. III. While - task: 1. Planning Have ss look at the pictures a ,b, c and d in their books on page 6. Elicit the pictures ( numbers, name of street) Have ss practise acting out the dialogue in pairs, using the pictures in their books and sentence patterns. Monitor the activity and offer help. Call on some pairs perform the task at the front of the class without correcting mistakes. 3. Report. Ss report what they have done and give comments for other pairs or groups. IV. Post - task. T asks Ss about what they have leanrt in their lesson today. T analysises the language focus: Ask and answer questions about where someone’s address: S1: What’s your address? S2: It’s 81 Tran Hung Dao Street. S1: Where do you live? S2: I live in flat 81 on the seconf floor. Have Ss to ask and answer questions about their addresses. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Period 2 Unit 1: WHAT’S YOUR ADDRESS? Lesson 1:4. Listen and complete. 5. Read and complete. 6. Let’s sing. A. Objectives I. Aim By the end of the period, pupils will be able to further practice asking and answering questions about someone’s address and listen for specific information II. Language focus : Sentences patterns: What’s your address? It’s ... III. Resources: student book ( page 7), flash cards, posters, recordings B. Procedures: I. Warm up: Ss talk about their addresses. Eg: Hello, I’m Nga. I’m from Hong Linh. I live at 7 Ngoc Son Street. II. Listen and complete 1. Pre- listening Whole class: have ss turn their books to page 7, elicit the names of the street and guess what they are talking about. Tell ss that they are going to listen to the recording, complete the gaps with correct answers. 2. While - listening Play the recording all the way through for ss to listen, as they look closely at the pictures in their books. Play the recording again for ss to listen and complete the gaps. Replay the recording for ss to check their answers. Have ss trade their answer in groups for correction. Give feedback: 1. 208, 2.51, 3. west street, 4. second floor. Ask a few questions to ensure pupils’comprehension of the listening text. III. Read and complete Ask Ss to open their books on page 7. Tell Ss that they are going to read the text and complete the gaps with the words given. Give Ss a few seconds to look at the text and read it in silent. Poin to the words given and ask them to read in chorus. Ask Ss some questions related to the text: Who is he?, Where is he from?What’s his address? . Give time to do the task independently. Have them swap their answers and correct them in group before checking as a class. Key: 1. from 2. lives 3.address 4. street. IV. Let’s sing Hang on the poster which has the song on it, tell ss that they are going to sing a new song “The Wheel on the bus” Play the recording all the way through for ss to listen while they are reading the song. Play the recording again for ss to repeat each line of the rhyme. Have ss point to the words while they are repeating. Have Ss repeat each line of the song, the other clap the rhythm. Repeat the step, but this time have ss swap their parts. Ss practise singing and doing the actions in groups, Monitor the activity and offer help. Correct pronunciation error(s) when necessary Call on some groups to perform the song at the front of the class. The rest of the class sing along and clap the rhythm. Have the whole class sing the song again to reinforce their pronunciation ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Period 3 Unit 1: WHAT’S YOUR ADDRESS? Pre - task Whole class: have ss turn their books to page 8. Focus their attention on the pictures and ask them to identify the characters in the pictures. Point to each picture and ask: who is this? They’re Trung and Nam.Tell ss that they are going to listen to the dialogue between Nam and Trung talking about where they live and what they are like. Use a poster and two puppets to present the situation. Play the recording again all the way through for ss to listen. Play the recording again for ss to complete the words. 1. Warm up Ss play the game: Ball toss II. Listen and circle Tell Ss that they are going to listen to the recording, circle the correct options and then write the words in the blanks. Give them a few seconds to read the sentences in silence and guess the words to fill the gaps. Play the recording more than once. Give Ss time to write the words in the gaps independently. Have them swap their answers before checking as a class. Ask Ss to read the sentences aloud. Key: 1.a, 2.b, 3.b, 4.a. III. Write about you Tell Ss that they are going to write some information about themselves using the questions: What’s your address? What’s your hometown, Who do you live with? Do you like living there? Why?/ Why not? Have them work in pairs or groups to discuss what they are going to write. Give time to do the task independently. Have them swap their answers before checking as a class. Let’s play Spot the difference Tell Ss that they are going to play the game: Spot the difference. T reminds Ss how to play the game. Have Ss to look at two pictures. And ask them what the pictures are abouts, How many differences are there? Have them work in pairs to discuss about the diffences between two pictures Pair work, Ss take turns to point to the pictures and talk about the differences. Monitor the activity. Call on a few ss to report the differences. Eg: In the picture a There are two people, but in the picture b there are four people. Thai Phi Hung
