Week :05 Period :09 Lesson 9 : U – u ( 1) I. Objectives: By the end of the lession ,the ss will be able to drill the letter U and words:umpire, umbrella, upside-down - Listening and speaking. II. Language contents: a. Vocabulary: umpire, umbrella, upside-down. b. Grammar : - What is it? ->It’s a book. III. Teaching method: Communicative method. - Techniques: Ask and answer, Work in groups, pairs, individually. IV. Teaching aids: Text book, pictures, study cards, sub board. V. Procedures: 1. Organization.(1') - Call the roll. 2. Warmer - up: ( 3’) * Guessing game: On the table, place one of four objects (a book, a ball, a jump rope or a doll) under a handkerchief. Ask Ss to guess what the object is. Each correct guess wins a point for the class. 3. New lesson: (30’) Teacher’s activities Student’s activities * Activity 1:Introduce the letter U ( 5’) - Pont to the teacher card and say: + T: This letter’s name is U U, U, U - Say and draw the letter U by hand in the air. - Correct the mistakes. * Activity 2: Introduce the sound /u/ ( 5’) - Pont to the teacher card and say: + T: Sound of the U is /u/: u, u , u - Say and draw the letter U by hand in the air. - Correct the mistakes. * Activity 3: Introduce the new words ( 15’) - Point to the picture drawing Uncle Jim and introduce: This is Uncle Jim , Uncle Jim. - Introduce 3 new words: + Take the picture of umbrella and say: umpire, umbrella, upside-down. + T: Yes, umbrella. says and writes on the board. Umbrell.a + Correct the mistakes. - Do the same with the other words. - Play the tape. * Activity 4: Introduce the U chant ( 5’) - Play the tape. - Look and say after the T Ss:U, U, U - Say and do after T - Look at the board and read individual. ( other Ss remark) - Look and say after the T Ss:u, u, u. - Say and do after T. - Look at the board and read individual.
