Techniques: eliciting, questioning & answering, role play. IV. Teaching aids: pictures, charts. V. Time: 45 minutes VI. Procedures: Teacher’s activities Students’ activities Warm – up. - Have students make invitations and responses with the following given cues. a. go to the movies (agree) b. go to the library (disagree) c. come to my house for dinner (agree) d. play soccer in the afternoon (disagree) - Call on some pairs to give feedback Activity 1: - Have students remind of the present progressive tense ¯ Form: S + am/is/are + V-ING ¯ Usge: used to express an action happening at the moment of speaking. - Ask students to do the exercise in pairs. - Ask students to give feedback is doing , is writing , is reading , is cooking , are playing , is kicking , is running. - Call on some students to read the whole complete passage. Activity 2: - Have students remind of the uses of demonstratives: This / These ª near persons or things. That / Those ª far persons or things This / That used with singular nouns These / Those used with plural nouns - Ask students to do the exercise - Have students give feedback a. This room is very dirty. b. Put this bag away. That isn’t my bag, Mom. This is my bag. c. Put those dirty socks in the washing basket. No, those socks on the bed. d. Throw away those comics. But I like these comics, Mom. Activity 3: - Have look at the pictures and say the time. - Ask students to give feedback a. It’s nine forty / twenty to ten. b. It starts at seven fifteen / a quarter past seven. c. I’ll be home at ten thirty / half past ten. d. I’ll come at six forty-five / a quarter to seven. - Ask students to practice the dialogues in pairs. Activity 4: - Have students tell the names of school subjects they are learning . - Ask students to match words and pictures a. Physical Education c. Math e. English b. Chemistry d. Geography e. History - Ask question What subject are they learning? They are learning ( Physical Education ) Activity 5: - Have students fill the adverbs of frequency in the chart. Ba never goes to the cafeteria at lunchtime. b. Ba seldom rides a bike to school. c. Ba always practices the guitar after school. d. Ba usually does his homework in the evening. e. Ba sometimes plays computer games. Activity 6: - Have students look at the words/phrases in the table to make suggestions. Let’s go swimming Should we go swimming? Would you like to go swimming? - Ask students to give responses to the suggestions above. - Have students notice the symbols P(agree) and O (disagree) P ª OK / I’d love to. O ª I’m sorry.
