Priod 68 Lesson 7: Looking back and project
A. OBJECTIVES: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:
1. Knowledge:
- revise the lexical items related to tourism
- revise the other uses of articles.
- talk about one’s choice of holiday.
2. Competence:
- Communication, ability to use language to talk about their choice of holiday.
- Self-learning capacity in doing exercises about tourism topic.
- Creative capacity (making conversation, speech).
3. Quality: hardworking, responsible and honest, nature loving.
4. Skills: listening, writing and speaking
5. Grammar points: common compound nouns; a, an, the and zero article.
TEACHING AIDS: Ss’ books, textbook, computer, projector and cards
B. PROCEDURES
I. Warm up
Chatting
- T asks students which places they would like to go to most on holiday.
- Students answer individually.
- T remarks
II. Communication
1. Activity 1
- T gets ss to work in groups of 4 to do exercise 6a (p29)
- Sts read the list and tick three things they would like to do most on holiday and share
their ideas in their groups.
E. g: I’d like to visit a museum as I’m interested in historical events and I’m always
curios to discover what happened in the past. Moreover, paying a visit to a museum
helps me to learn history subject better.
- T gets 1 or 2 groups to show their choice in front of the class.
2. Activity 2
- T asks sts to name three things they don't like to do on holiday, and say why.
Example: cook meals
I don't like to cook meals on holiday. I like to eat out and relax.
- Ss work in pairs. Tell them to read the example and think of the three things they
do not like to do on holiday.
- T may give prompts:
Do homework/ Wash clothes/Do the washing up/Be online/Play sports/Write
postcards

Ask Ss to complete the self-assessment. Identify any difficulties and weak areas and
provide further practice if necessary.
III. Vocabulary
1. Activity 1 (Exercise 1. p28)
- T asks sts to to work in pairs to fill each gap with a word from the box to
complete the passage. There are two extra words.
- Let Ss read the words in the box first, then read the passage and complete the
exercise individually. Tell them to pay attention to the common collocations related
to the topic of the unit. After that, let some Ss read the passage aloud - sentence by
sentence. Correct as a class.

2. Activity 2: (Exercise 2. p28)
- T asks sts to work individually to form compound nouns from the following
words, then fill the gaps to complete the sentences.
- Tell Ss to look at the 12 elements and try to form compound nouns from them. Then
have them read the sentences and fill the gaps with the compound nouns formed. Tell
them to change the elements if they do not fit the gaps and do it again. Less advanced
classes can complete this exercise in pairs. Check as a class.

3. Activity 3: (Exercise 3. p28)
- T asks sts to work in individual to form compound nouns from the following
words:
tour return soft ticket package
operator tour roundware trip
- T asks sts to make sentences with them, and share with a partner.
E.g: Tour operator
If there are any problems, you should contact your tour operator
IV. Grammar
1. Activity 1: (Exercise 4, p 28)
- T asks sts to find and correct the mistakes in the sentences, using a/an, the or
zero article.
- Quickly review the articles a, an, the and zero article sts have learned. Then have
them do the task and write down their answers in their notebooks. Correct their
answers as a class.

2. Activity 2: Rewrite each sentence so that it has a similar meaning, using the
word in CAPITALS.

A. OBJECTIVES: By the end of the lesson, ss will be able to listen and read for
specific information then practice listening and speaking with the lexical items related
to the topic "English in the world".
1. Knowledge:
- have a brief overview of English and the development of English in the World
- use lexical items related to Foreign language
- talk about English as a foreign language
2. Competence:
- Communication, ability to use language (make a short conversation about the
English language)
- Self-learning capacity( find information about the English language)
-Creative capacity ( making conversation about the English language)
-Quality: hardworking, responsible and honest.

learnt/known. Give comments and correct any mistakes if needed.
Write the Unit title on the board ‘English in the world’. Elicit any information Ss
know about the English language by asking what they know out the
characteristics of the English language.

Ask Ss to convert the adjectives given into nouns. Remind them to use a dictionary
to check.
