Period 82 UNIT 10: COMMUNICATION Lesson 3: A closer look 2 I. OBJECTIVES: 1. Knowledge: By the end of the lesson students will be able to: - Use the lexical items related to the topic "Communication". - Use future continuous and Verb + to-infinitives correctly. - Practice doing exercises using future continuous and Verb + to-infi. a. Vocabulary: related to the topic: Communication b. Grammar: Future continuous: review and V + to-infinitive. Skills: listening and underlining, sentences completion, choosing the best answer, writing the sentences, making a list. 2. Competence development:  - Self-study: Determine the duty of study, surf the information and answer the questions related in the lesson. - Problem solution: Analyse the problems and find the solutions for these in the lesson as well as in the discussion. - Cooperation: Assign the duty in teamwork, pair work, linguistic competence, cooperative learning and communicative competence 3. Virtures: - Responsibility: Ss will be more responsible for interacting to partner happily - Compassionate quality: Ss will be able to aware of communication now and in the future - Honesty: Ss will be able to give correct information as well as factual data II. Warm up Aim: To warm up the class and lead in the lesson Content: Future continuous: review The result of the activity: Students will be able to know about future continuous Procedure: Teacher’s activities Students’ activities 1-The duty T asks Ss to give examples about tenses. Eg: I am studying English I go to school by bike 2-How to do the duty Ss give example 2. Presentation. Aim: Help Ss review future continuous Content: Give examples, form and uses about the future continuous. The result of the activity: Students can do exercise about future continuous Procedure: Teacher’s activities Students’ activities 1-The duty T writes different times of the day on the board (e.g. 7 a.m., 10 a.m., 12 p.m., etc.) and ask Ss to work in pairs to tell each other what they will be doing at these times tomorrow. Ss work in pairs T asks Ss to complete the sentences with the future continuous Ss do exercise 2) individually and then share the answer with the partner T corrects the mistakes T asks Ss to work in groups (three people) to predict when the following may happen in the future. Future continuous Form: S + will be V-ing Use: We use the future continuous tense to express being in the process of doing something at a specific time in the future. Example: - Tonight at 8.30 p.m. Mai will be watching Frozen again at home. She loves it! - He will be having his Vietnamese class. - They will be watching a film at the cinema. 2. Complete the sentences with the future continuous. Key: 1. Will he still be sleeping; will be studying 2. will be having 3.will be eating 4. Will she be staying; will be writing 5. will be playing 6. will be learning 3. Work in groups to predict when the following may happen in the future. 3-Check the duty Take notes 3. Practice Aim: Ss can understand the structure and do exercise Verb+ to-infinitive Content: Know Verb+ to-infinitive and its uses. The result of the activity: Students will be able to use Verb+ to-infinitive and make their own sentences Procedure: Teacher’s activities Students’ activities 1-The duty T gives examples and some common verbs followed by to-infinitive. Ss listen and copy and do exercise 5 individually Ss work individually then in pairs to compare their answers. 4-Assess the duty T asks some Ss read their answers. Some Ss read. T checks and corrects. 2-How to do the duty - Verbs + to-infinitive Example: They want to see Superman 3 this Sunday. - Some common verbs followed by to-infinitive • Verbs of thinking: choose, decide, plan • Verbs of feeling: love, hate, prefer • Other verbs: try, want, need 3-Check the duty Ex 5.
