Sentence patterns: My favorite food is steak./ We eat steak with a knife and fork./ We often eat pizza. Skills: Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking. 2.Competences Self-control and independent learning: identify and talk about the eating habits in the USA. Communication and collaboration: work in pairs or groups to talk about the eating habits in the USA. Critical thinking and creativity: learn how to talk about the eating habits in the USA. 3.Attributes Kindness: support their friends to complete the learning tasks or play the games. Diligence: focus on the lesson and work hard to complete all the tasks. Honesty: play fair. Accountability: appreciate kindness, diligence, and honesty. 4.Teaching aids and materials - Teacher’s aids: Tiếng Anh 3 i-Learn Smart Start Student’s Book and Teacher’s book, Class CDs, Flashcards, DCR & DHA on Eduhome, TV, PowerPoint slides. - Students’ aids: Tiếng Anh 3 i-Learn Smart Start Student’s Book, Workbook, Notebook. B. Procedures I. Warm up Play the Aha game. - Cover the flashcard with a piece of paper or card. - Very slowly move the paper to reveal the picture. - Ask the students to guess the picture on the flashcard. Have them say “Aha” and the vocabulary. II. Presentation Answer the questions. - Use DCR on Eduhome to show the class the pictures in Task C. Read and circle. - Ask them to look at the pictures and answer these questions. • What food is it? • What is your favorite food? - Correct the students’ answers and help them with pronunciation if necessary. Read and circle. - Use DCR on Eduhome to show students the text. - Have them read the text individually. - Read the text as a whole class. - Help them correct their pronunciation. - Demonstrate the activity using the example. - Have them read and circle. Check the answers as a whole class using DCR. 2. Look and listen. (CD3 Track 66) - Have the students look at the script and pictures and ask these questions. Who are talking? (Thảo and Emma) What are they talking about? (food) Play the audio using DCR and have them look and listen. 3. Look and write. (CD3 Track 67) - Have the students look at the sentences. - Play the audio using DCR and demonstrate the activity using the example. - Play the audio and have them listen and write. Play the audio again and check answers as a whole class using DCR. 4. Practice with your friends. - Divide the class into two pairs. - Have the students practice saying the sentences. Have some pairs demonstrate the activity in front of the class. IV. Production Make their own stories. - Have the students work in pairs. - Ask them to look and read the story from Part 2 – Listen and write as a sample. - Give the students enough time to make their stories using their own ideas. - Walk around the class and support them if necessary. - Invite some pairs to present their stories in front of the class. Help the students with feedback and correct them if any. V. Homework Assignment - Require the students to do exercises on page 85 in the Workbook. - Have them copy the structures in their Tiếng Anh 3 i-Learn Smart Start Notebook, page 45. Ask them to prepare Parts E-G, Culture Lesson on page 121 in the Student’s Book. Skills: Listening, Reading, Writing, and Speaking. 2.Competences Self-control and independent learning: identify and talk about the eating habits in Vietnam. Communication and collaboration: work in pairs or groups to talk about the eating habits in Vietnam. Critical thinking and creativity: learn how to talk about the eating habits in Vietnam. 3.Attributes Kindness: support their friends to complete the learning tasks or play the games. Diligence: focus on the lesson and work hard to complete all the tasks. Honesty: play fair. Warm up Play the Slap the board game. - Divide the class into two teams and have them form two lines. - Place the flashcards about the food and kitchen utensils on the board, showing the images. Call out a word and have the first student from each group race to slap the correct image on the board and say it correctly. The first student to slap the correct flashcard wins a point for their team. II.Presentation Rearrange the sentences. - Have the students work in groups of 4-5 students. - Ask them to close their Student’s Books. - Give them the sentences from the text (page 121) about the eating habits in Vietnam and ask them to rearrange the sentences to make a meaningful paragraph. - Walk around the class to support them. Read and circle True or False. - Use DCR on Eduhome to show the students the text. - Have the students read the text individually. - Read the text as a whole class. - Demonstrate the activity using the example. - Have them read and circle “True” or “False”. Check answers as a whole class.F. 1. Write about you. - Have the students read the questions in the table. Ask them to answer the questions and fill in the blanks using their own ideas. 2. Look at E. Now write about eating in your house. Write 10-20 words. - Have the students read the text in Part E again. Ask them to write 10-20 words about eating in their house. IV. Production Talk about your favorite food. - Divide the class into four groups. - Have the students read their sentences to their group. Afterwards, have some students read their sentences in front of the class. V. Homework Assignment Ask them to prepare Unit 8 – Review and Practice on page 122 in the Student’s Book.
