Activity 1: Look, listen and repeat - Ask students to look at the fourpictures (page 14) and answer questions to identify the situation for the conversation. 1. Who are they? (They are teacher and Akiko) 2. Where are they? (At school) 3. What are they talking?(They’re are talking about their nationality). - Ask students to look at picture c (Activity 1) (page 14 ) and answer the following questions: 4. What does teacher ask? (What nationality are you?) 5. What does Akiko answer? (I’m from Japanese.) - Elicit the sentence patterns:“What nationality are you? − I’m ____.” - Play the recording more than once, if necessary, ask students to listen and repeat the dialogue - Do choral and individual repetition, pointing to the characters speaking. - Play the recording again for students to listen and repeat. Activity 2: Controlled & guided practice Task 1: Point and say - Use pictures to elicit: Nationality, Japanese, Vietnamese, English, Australian, Malaysian, American, English. - Point to the first picture and model the task with one student, using the expressions in the bubbles and the word under the picture. Teacher: What nationality are you? Student: I ‘m VietNamese - Ask students to say the phrases chorally and individually.
