Procedures: Teacher’s activities Students’ activities Warm – up. - Have students write a letter with cues. Dear Huong, I / have / party / 12th /September / next Sunday. The party / my house /30 Hai Ba Trung / 7.00 / 9.00p.m. I / hope /come / join / fun. Love, Minh Telephone: 8 239 877. - Ask some students to read the complete letter. Presentation. - Ask questions 1. How many rooms are their in your house? 2. What are they? 3. What are there in each room? - Ask students to look at the pictures/p.29,30 and to name the objects in the pictures. 1. What are they in the bathroom? 2. What are they in the bed-room? 3. What are they in the living-room? 4. What are they in the kitchen? - Help students understand the meaning of the furniture in each room. - Have students read the vocabulary. - Play the tape for students. - Present the other new vocabulary: awful, comfortable, modern, amazing, convenient. - Present the new grammar and structure: EXCLAMATIONS. 1. What an awful day! ª Complaints 2. What a bright room! ª Compliments. ð WHAT + A/AN + ADJ + NOUN! - Play the tape for students again. Practice. - Ask students to practice the dialogue. - Call some pairs to read the dialogue before the class. - Have students the ‘Now answer’ to answer the questions. - Call some students to read the answers. - Remark and correct mistakes. Answer: a. The living room, Hoa’s bedroom, and the kitchen. b. Because it is bright and it has nice colors: pink and white. c. A sink, a tub and a shower. d. A washing machine, a dryer, a refrigerator, a dishwasher, and an electric stove. - Have students notice the spelling. AE: favorite, color. BE: favourite, colour. Production. - Ask students to answer the questions in ‘About you” - Ask students to write a short paragraph to describe their house based on the answers. - Ask students to play Networks. - Write the letter.
