Lesson 1: 1. Look, listen and repeat.

A. Objectives
I. Aim:
By the end of the lesson, pls will be able to ask and answer questions about
common health problems.Pupils know how to take care of their health
II. Language focus:
1.Sentence patterns: What’s the matter with you?
I’ve got a headache.
2.Vocabulary: arm, headache, earache, sore eyes, stomachache, toothache,
backache, sore throat, temprature, cold, matter, should
III. Resources: 1.Teacher: fresh cards, CD player,...
2.Pupils: Miniboards, Student’s book,...
B. Procedures:
I. Warm up: Sing the parts of the body song (My toes, my knees,...)
II.Look, listen and repeat.

Have Sts to look at the picture on page 6 in part 1 and ask them so
me
questions to identify the characters in the picture:
Who are they? (Tom and Mummy)
What are they talking about? (Tom is tired and his mother brings the
breakfast to the bedroom)
Tell pls that they are going to listen and repeat. (Two times)
Ask pls to work in groups to take turns to say the lines from the dialogue.
Ask pls to give the model sentences:
Mum:
What’s the matter with you?
Tom:
I’ve got a headache
=>
What’s the matter with you?
I’ve got __________
Ask pls to give other examples to get the form, meaning, intonation,...
III. Point and say.
Ask pls to look at the pictures a, b, c, d, e and f on page 6 and identify the
activities in the pictures.

Ask pls to practise in chorus.
Tell pls to practise in pairs.
Call some pairs to demonstrate the task in front of the class.

Ask pls to work in pairs to ask and answer the qs on page 7.

A. Objectives
I. Aim
By the end of the period, pupils will be able to use the words and phrases
related to the topics Common health problems. Ask and answer questions about Common
health problems, using
What’s the matter with you? I have ...
- Develop Ss speaking and listening skills.
- Ss look after , solve problems and study themselves.
- Studious and obedient students and love their hometown, family and friends.
II. Language focus :
Sentences patterns: What’s the matter with you?
I have ...
III. Resources: 1. Teacher: student’s and teacher’s book, pictures, cassette.
2. Students: books, notebooks, workbooks.
B. Procedures:
I. Warm up: - Revising the story in Activity 1 by inviting three pupils to act out the
story.
- Act out the story.
II. Listen and tick:
- Tell pupils that they are going to listen to the recording and tick the problem of each
character.
- Play the recording all the way through for pupils to listen. Play it again for them to do
the task.
- Get them to compare their answers before checking as a class. Give explanations for
answers which pupils find difficult. Play the recording again to confirm the answers.
- Listen to the recording and do the task.
- Compare the answers with a partner.
Key: Nam: toothache
Peter: stomach ache
Linda: headache
Tony: sore throat
III. Read and complete
Ask Ss to open their books. Tell Ss that they are going to read the text and complete
the gaps with the words given.
- Tell the class that they are going to read the text and fill the gaps with earache,
sore throat, stomach ache, fever and toothache. Remind them to focus on the context to
select the appropriate words from the box.
- Get pupils to swap and compare their answers in pairs before checking as a class.

IV. Let’s sing
Hang on the poster which has the song on it, tell ss that they are going to sing a new
song “What’s the matter with you?”
Play the recording all the way through for ss to listen while they are reading the song.
Play the recording again for ss to repeat each line of the rhyme. Have ss point to the
words while they are repeating.
Have Ss repeat each line of the song, the other clap the rhythm. Repeat the step, but this
time have ss swap their parts.
Ss practise singing and doing the actions in groups, Monitor the activity and offer help.
Correct pronunciation error(s) when necessary
Call on some groups to perform the song at the front of the class. The rest of the class
sing along and clap the rhythm.
Have the whole class sing the song again to reinforce their pronunciation
- Tell the class that they are going to sing What’s the matter with you? Have them read the
lyrics. Check their comprehension.
- Play the recording all the way through for pupils to listen and follow in their books.
- Play it again for them to repeat line by line. When they are familiar with the melody, ask
them to sing along with the music before practising doing actions.
- Invite one or two groups to sing the song and do actions in front of the class.
V. Homework
- Give homework to Ss.
- Do exercises in workbook, learn by heart the new words.

What are they doing? (Nam is talking to Mai about his sore throat)
Tell pls that they are going to listen and repeat. (Two times)
Ask pls to work in groups to take turns to say the lines from the dialogue.

- Ss look after, solve problems and study themselves.

Sentences patterns: You should/shouldn’t ... Yes, I will./OK, I won’t.
III. Resources student book ( page 9), flash cards, posters, recordings.
B. Procedures
I. Warm up
- Having the class revise the story in Activity 1.
Invite four pupils to act out the story.
II. Listen and complete.
- Tell the class that they are going to listen and complete the table. Ask them to read
the information and guess the advice.
- Play the recording all the way through for them to listen. Play it again for them to
complete the table.
- Get them to compare their answers before checking as a class.
- Listen to the recording and complete the table.
- Compare the answers with a partner.
Key: 1. Quan: should go to the doctor 2. Tony: shouldn’t go to school

IV. Let’s play:
- Tell the class that they are going to play Charades. Follow the instructions in Games in
Introduction.
- Revise the names of the body parts before starting the game.
- Have the class play the game in groups of six. Pupils in each group take turns to mime
the illness while the others guess. The quickest pupil to guess the illness correctly gets
one point. Set a time limit for them to play the game. Those with the most points at the
end of the game are the winners..
- Say aloud the names of the body parts.
- Play the game in gruops.
V. Homework
- Give homework to Ss.
- Do exercises in workbook, learn by heart the new words.
