Objectives: Teaching aims: By the end of the lesson, Students will be able to talk about past events. II. Preparations: Textbook, pictures, cassette player. III. Procedures: Teacher’s activities Students’ activities 1. Warm - up (7’) - Give Ss a picture and ask some questions: Do you know this place? Where? Can you tell some famous places in Nha Trang? What places do people often visit in Nha Trang? - Call some Ss to get feedback - Look at the picture and answer the questions 2. Presentation (18’) + Activity 1: - Set the sence: Liz is talking to Ba about her recent vacation in Nha Trang - Have Ss guess some information Where did Liz visit in Nha Trang? - Introduce some new words Aquarium (n) Cham temples(n) gift (n) wonderful (n) delicious(n) - Have Ss listen the dialogue between Ba and Liz. + Activity 2: - Introduce the simple past tense - Have Ss find out the verbs are used in the dialogue Eg: 1. How was your vacation in Nha Trang? It was wonderful. 2. Did you buy any souvenirs in NhaTrang? Yes. I did. I bought a lot of different gifts for my friends in America The simple past tense Form: S + Verb(V-ed,2) Did + S +Verb? S + Didn’t+ verb I/he/she/it+ Wasn’t You/they/we+weren’t Was + he /she/it? Were + you/they? - Sign: Ago, yesterday, last - Listen instruction - Guess the meaning - Take note - Practice the new words - Listen and take note -Listen and write. -Find out the verbs. 3. Practice (15’) - Have Ss practice the dialogue - Call two pairs to check - Have Ss read the dialogue again and number the sentences ( 3 ) Liz bought souvenirs ( 2 ) Liz visited Tri Nguyen Aquarium ( 4 ) Liz returned to Ha Noi ( 1 ) Liz went to Nha Trang ( 5 ) Liz talked to Ba about her vacation - Get feedback - Work in pair to practice the new words - Read the dialogue and number the sentence - Work in pair -Give feedback 4.
