III. PROCEDURES: Teacher’s activities Students’ activities 1. Warm - up: (5’) - Give Ss a picture - Have Ss answer some questions What’s the matter with him? Why did he have a toothache? Where will he go? Who does he see? - Look at the picture and answer the questions He has a toothache Because he ate too much candy. He will go to hospital He will see a dentist 2. Presentation: (15’) + Activity 1: - Introduce some new words dentist(n) appointment(n) scare(ad) hate (v) fill (v) cavity(n) hurt (v) - Ask Ss to practice new words + Activity 2: - Set the scene: Minh is talking to Hoa about his teeth - Have Ss listen the dialogue (2 times) - Guess the meaning of the new words - Take note - Practice the new words - Listen 3. Practice: (13’) + Activity 1: - Have Ss practice the dialogue - Call Ss to get feedback + Activity 2: - Have Ss answer the questions/page 103 - Call Ss to get feedback Answer key: Minh has a toothache No, he doesn’t. He hates the sound of drill. She had a cavity and the dentist filled it. The dentist looked at her teeth and told her not to worry, and then she filled it. - Work in pair to practice the dialogue - Read the dialogue and find out the answer - Correct the mistakes 4. Production (10’) - Give Ss pictures - Have Ss answer some questions Why did he have a toothache? Because he ate much candy Introduce the structure Why…..? Because Eg: Why Minh’s scared?
