OBJECTIVES: Teaching aim: By the end of the lesson, students will be able to understand the text about the problem of people from the countryside moving to the city. II. PREPARATIONS: Book, cassette tape, extra - board III. PROCEDURES: Teacher’s activities Students’ activities 1. Warm – Up: (5’) ¯ Organize game: “Brainstorming” Difficulties of farmers’ life. 2. Pre – Reading: (10’) - Ask Ss some questions to introduce the lesson: 1. Do you think many people move to live in the city? ª Yes. 2. Why do they want to go to the city? ª get (well-paying) job, get more money, better facilities, 3. What problems may happen when so many people move to the city? ª overcrowded, population increase, strains on social services, … - Explain vocabulary: + rural (adj) + urban ≠ rural (adj) + plentiful (adj) + struggle (n) ª struggle with nature. + (to) destroy (v) + (to) increase (v) + overcrowding (n) + strain (n) + tragedy (n) + migrant (n) + (to) provide (v) + (to) create (v) 3.
